Hello everyone. I am sorry to share that my co-developer on this project has passed away, and development on this game has ceased. I would still like to make our early builds available for all to try out and offer feedback as I consider developing more games in the future.

If there is enough interest and support for this game, I may work to find new developers to develop a spiritual successor with more complete features, music, and nuclear facilities to build. For anyone willing to try this out, I would welcome and appreciate your moral support and constructive feedback.

What is this game about?

Grid Gremlins is a game about building and running your own nuclear power plant. Keep things running smoothly and you'll be rewarded for providing clean and stable electricity to the grid. Things don't run smoothly by default! 

This game is in early access and seeking user feedback as the game develops. 

How do I play this game?

This game follows other tycoon-style games where you might manage a theme park, hotel, or other facility. Use the mouse or WASD keys to control a camera to look around the map. You can click on icons in the bottom left to select a component to build, and place it on the map to begin construction.

Current available levels:

Level 0 - Power Plant Maintenance and Repair A nuclear plant is built for you, all you have to do is fix maintenance issues as they arise. Good operations results in more electricity sales. Reach the required amount of money to win the level. 

Level 1 - Power Plant Construction and Plumbing - You're tasked with finishing a nuclear power plant under construction. Connect the components together with functional plumbing. When the plant runs smoothly for an entire day, you win. 

Sandbox - Build Your Own Power Plant! If you want to try building your own functional nuclear power plant from scratch, give it a try in here. There are no win or lose conditions, just experiment and have fun!

What stage of development is this game currently in?

These stages are listed roughly in order and do overlap to some degree.

  • Program runs on Windows and Linux, no major crashes or memory leaks
• Basic Accessibility Testing  - 80% Done
  • Functional and Readable UI, Controls Explanation, Volume Control, etc.
• Game Mechanics Testing - 50% Done
  • Audio Management, In-Game Events, Player interactions and agency, power plant building and operational logic, etc.
• Game Design Testing - 40% Done
  • Level design, difficulty tuning / adjustment, adding more fun gameplay aspects
• Art Pass and Creativity - 30% Done
  • Art-style, Music, Models, Textures, Graphics, Shaders, etc.

How can I provide constructive feedback?

Please take the in-game feedback survey. When you are done, you can save your responses into a results file and send them to us. This allows us to better look at feedback in bulk and look at where we should focus our efforts next. Using the in-game feedback survey is the most helpful way to offer feedback since it provides specific build information for us to make sure we're being consistent with version control.
